Our X-back service harness is designed for dogs who benefit from a little extra shoulder support. With the same strength, custom fit, and waterproof durability you expect from all Bowie & Co. gear, this version features crossed shoulder straps across the back — offering a snug, stay-in-place fit for active working dogs.
It’s ideal for handlers who prefer the feel of an X-back structure, or for dogs who shift gear around easily with traditional strap placement.

🧩 Harness Construction
• Girth Panel: Made from heavy-duty 1.5” BioThane
• Shoulder Straps (X-back style): Made from flexible 1” BioThane, crossing neatly over the back for a secure fit, and from chest to girth for underbelly strap.
• Optional Chest Plate: Black neoprene insert for added comfort.
• Quick-Release Girth Buckle (Cobra upgrade available)
Each X-back harness features adjustable shoulder straps, underbelly strap, and girth strap, all fitted with triglides for easy size adjustments. This allows for a more flexible fit — perfect for growing dogs, dogs who fluctuate in weight, or handlers who prefer a little extra adjustability over a fully fixed design

🎨 Colour Options
Choose up to two colours:
• Primary colour – 1.5” girth and 1” (underbelly) strap sections
• Secondary colour – 1” shoulder straps and 1” adjustable girth strap. Accents also are in secondary colour.

🛠️ Handle & Attachment Options
• Cape-only setup: Two D-rings placed 6” apart to attach a service cape
• Add extra D-rings: Need a pull strap and a cape? Let us know where you want your D-rings
• Bunny loops (optional): Add loops and extra shoulder D-rings to secure a guide handle
• Handle types available:
• No handle – clean, minimal design
• Built-in counterbalance handle – sturdy and low movement
• Detachable counterbalance handle attachment points – a great flexible option for dogs needing room under tables or handlers who want the option to attach the handle only when needed
Note: Guide handles and detachable counterbalance handles are sold separately.
Counterbalance handles are for light grounding support only — not for moderate or heavy mobility.

• Neoprene Chest Plate – Soft black padding for dogs who need extra comfort during long wear. This chest plate is built into the harness and cannot be removed.

1. Stainless Steel – One of our most durable options. Rust-proof, scratch-resistant, and ready for all-weather wear.
(Note: Quick-release buckles and lobster clasps in this option are nickel/chrome plated.)
2. Brass – Equally durable and long-wearing, brass is a classic choice that resists rust and develops a natural patina over time. Ideal for tough conditions and everyday use.
3. Black – Matte black steel hardware with a sleek, modern look. A popular fashion finish that may show signs of wear with heavy use.
4. Rose Gold – A beautiful, soft pink-gold finish for a little extra glam. Best suited for light-to-moderate wear.
5. Multichrome (Rainbow) – Eye-catching and full of colour, this fashion hardware option features a vibrant colour-shift finish. Best enjoyed as a statement piece, as it may wear over time with rough use.
Note: Stainless steel and brass are our most recommended options for strength, durability, and long-term use – perfect for dogs who love the water, mud, or rough play. Fashion finishes like black, rose gold, and multichrome are best suited for more gentle wear.

Every harness is made to order based on your dog’s measurements.

Harness details we require
When placing an order for your harness, please give as much detail as possible so that your harness will turn out perfect.
Details we require:
Please let us know your dogs measurements, incluing girth, chest and shoulder measurements, including the unit of measurements.
Guide handle length and unit of measurement. This can be measured by measuring from your dogs shoulders, and where your hand would rest on a guide handle. Please specify if this measurement includes or excludes the trigger snaps.
Counterbalance handle length. Please measure the height that you would like the handle. This is done by measuring the distance between your dogs shoulder blades and where your hand will rest.
D ring placement: All harnesses will come with 2x D rings located at the back of the harness, to be used for cape/pullstrap attachment. Please specify if you would like the location changed, or extra d rings added.
Change of biothane sizing. If you prefer to have a 1" wide harness rather than the standard 1.5" harness, please let us know, and what colour you would like.
Secondary colour: please let us know your choice of secondary colour for your harness, or if you would like it all one colour.
